Dual Universe offers an in-depth look at core alien entities and how they work for PvP and resources

With the recently added Athena update dual universe introduced a number of new features, including the new Alien Core Units. These units allow you to harvest resources if you can claim or capture them. Now Novaquark has released a new video about the feature showing how it all works. The team is also introducing Digital Access Coupons, a way to claim or gift game time.

When it comes to alien core units, they’re both a way for you to challenge other players and test your PvP skills, but the resource perks can make a difference. While you can challenge a captured, occupied core and even dismantle its shields, the feature has some balancing features so both sides can have fun and everyone can try to capture or keep the core.

The video shows a scuffle, with shields being broken when attacked. Instead of just leaving the core instantly vulnerable and allowing for a quick takeover, it has a built-in locking system that creates temporary invulnerability to give defenses a chance to band together. If your base is under attack and you don’t have any active defenders at the time, this may not work in your favor. However, if the base is manned with people ready to defend, you won’t be automatically wiped out when your shields go.

This provides players with an opportunity to learn and come back better. If the enemy starts lowering your shields again, you may need to level up. But at least you get a chance instead of letting each other roll over you.

Novaquark has also introduced Digital Access Coupons. This is the first iteration of the system that exists as part of the game economy, allowing players to use quanta to gain or give game time. This first version will be website based and eventually the system will evolve to become more integrated. The first coupons have already been claimed as they were part of Kickstarter backer packs. But there will be more along the way.
