Dublin Bus will hire 450 new drivers and 50 mechanics in its largest recruitment ever to accommodate projected growth over the coming years.
The company is holding a recruitment day this Saturday 2nd April at its Technical Training School at Broadstone Depot, Dublin 7.
Among the 500 new hires will be 450 drivers and 50 engineers and mechanics, marking the company’s largest expansion since 1989.
Dublin Bus currently employs almost 3,700 people, including over 2,700 bus drivers and 500 technical staff, representing 73 different countries.
Dublin Bus Recruitment Day will seek to attract new drivers to the fleet and guide potential employees through the application process. Newly hired drivers are paid while they are being trained, the company said.
Speaking ahead of the start, bus driver Aedan Moroney said he loves the camaraderie with the public and his customers he meets and encourages anyone who wants to apply to apply.
“Where would you get a job with a view of a corner office and freedom in the city? I even get thanked for my livelihood! My advice to anyone thinking about it is… do it. You’ll never look back once you’re in.”
Newly hired Angela O’Callaghan decided to return to the job market in 2019 after 16 years as a mom and homemaker, saying that anyone who enjoys meeting people and driving will “love it”.

The average annual salary is €42,000 and packages include a mentoring program to support career advancement, paid maternity and fatherhood for all employees including same-sex couples, access to the gym, a subsidized general practitioner medical program and an employee support program with free consultations Education support program for those pursuing college studies and free bus rides.
