Techland has released a new video for Dying Light 2 that’s why Aiden came to The City as well as his motives.
In the video, you are also introduced to some of the characters that you will meet, and also parts of the story are included. You’ll also get to see some new gameplay scenes.
Dying Light 2 is set 20 years after the first game and features a new protagonist named Aiden. Using his parkour skills, he can easily climb ledges, slide and run through walls while navigating the city. There are more than 3,000 parkour animations, so Aiden’s moves must prove interesting and varied. Along with parkour, there will be various tools available such as grappling hooks and paragliders to help you along the way.
With a first-person perspective, combat is mostly melee-based, and weapons degrade as you use them. There are also ranged weapons such as crossbows, shotguns and spears. Your weapons can be upgraded using blueprints and other items obtained when you break other weapons.
The city, where everything happens, is set in Europe and the map, which is four times the size of the original game, is free to explore. There are different factions in the game that you will interact with and your decisions will affect the world and how the NPCs perceive you. Some decisions may also open or close areas of the city to you.
In the sequel, new zombies were added, and like the first, they are slower during the day and more aggressive at night. At night, zombies come out of hiding, giving you the chance to explore their lair.
Like the first game, you can play with others in a two- to four-player co-op mode, which was shown yesterday in the final episode of Dying 2 Know. In co-op, one player will act as the host and will maintain the progress made in the co-op with their game, but the people you play with will be able to keep their progress and items earned. When making choices in the game, all players can talk about how they will go about things, but in the end it is the host who will make the choices.
Revealed at E3 2018 during the Xbox press conference for an early 2020 release, Techland announced in January that the game would miss the 2020 window. In May of last year, the release date was December 7. 2021 has been revealed. However, the game was later pushed back to February 4, which is still the official release date.
Dying Light 2 will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch (Cloud Version).
