Dyson is launching a bizarre “headphone mask” that filters air before you breathe it in – AND it even plays music

FORGET about vacuuming – Dyson hopes to breathe new life into headphones with its strangest invention yet.

The company has unveiled a futuristic Daft Punk-esque wearable called the Dyson Zone that doubles as Bluetooth over-ear headphones and an air filter mask.

dyson says the crazy idea didn’t come about because of the coronavirus, they’ve actually been working on it for more than six years to bring clean air to dirty cities.

Environmentally conscious music lovers get a clean flow of air to their nose and mouth through a non-contact detachable visor.

Filter and motor bits are tightly embedded in the headphone cans.

The company used its existing expertise in vacuum motors and acoustics to not only make the motors as small as possible, but also to make them extremely quiet.

It is able to suck up 99% of all tiny particles including dust, pollen and bacteria.

Founder of the billionaire Sir James DysonRevealing the invention, Jake’s son said: “Air pollution is a global problem – it affects us everywhere we go.

“In our homes, at school, at work and when travelling, whether on foot, on a bike or using public or private transport.

“The Dyson Zone purifies the air you breathe on the go.

“And unlike face masks, it delivers a blast of fresh air without touching your face with high-performance filters and two miniaturized air pumps.

“After six years in development, we’re excited to deliver clean air and clean audio everywhere.”

After more than 500 prototypes, experts have developed the final product.

The very first design was a bulky snorkel-like clean air mouthpiece paired with a backpack to hold the motor.

Wearers can choose from three different sound options, including isolation mode to activate noise cancellation.

Conversation mode is activated when you fold the visor down, while transparency mode lets you hear your surroundings through the speakers.

Dyson Zone will be available this fall, but the exact cost is yet to be revealed.
