East Grinstead man in hospital as Sussex Police investigate

A man remains hospitalized with a serious head injury, police are investigating how he was injured.

The 66-year-old man was found in the early hours of the morning and treated by emergency workers before being taken to hospital.

A member of the public found the man with serious injuries on Heathcote Drive in East Grinstead and called emergency services.

Sussex Police Inspector Dan McCarthy CID said: “At this time our detectives are working hard to determine how the man sustained his injuries. We remain open as we pursue a number of investigative directions.”

The man is said to have traveled by train from London to East Grinstead in the early hours of January 25 before the incident.

Police are asking residents and businesses between Heathcote Drive and the train station to check CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage from around 1.15am to try to uncover information linked to the case.

The force is also keen to speak to anyone driving in the area at the time.

Anyone with relevant information that could assist investigators in their investigation is asked to report this online or call 101 using serial number 47 dated 01/25. to specify.
