Plans for a new Costa and McDonald’s drive-through have been submitted.
Submitted to Eastbourne Borough Council, the plans show two new drive-through units at The Crumbles shopping center in Eastbourne Sovereign Harbour.
The existing buildings in unit nine would be demolished and a new building constructed to house a Costa Coffee and a McDonald’s, both with drive-through facilities.
According to the plans, green areas and parking spaces should also be provided.
The consultation is now open and the public is invited to give their opinion.
Residents have already started submitting feedback.
Nigel Pitt, from Eastbourne, said: “That looks like a very good plan.
“It is time that this area was put to good use. Garbage would be my only concern.”
There were also some objections, citing other nearby McDonald’s and Costa Coffee outlets.
Chelsea Dawe, from Eastbourne, said: “There are already three McDonald’s in Eastbourne and a Costa Coffee drive-through five minutes away in Hampden Park.
“The area is already in a bad state with rubbish and cans and beer bottles everywhere, that would only add to the problem.
“We already have people shouting past our house in the early hours of the morning and that will only cause more trouble for the residents.”
The consultation is open from now until December 22, 2022.
