Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will appear in an EastEnders special.

The royals will star in the upcoming episode, which will air over the next few weeks.

They will join the residents of Albert Square as they mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a street party.

Special scenes were shot in March when Charles and Camilla visited the set to meet the cast and crew of the BBC series.

Fans will be able to watch the royal arrival on Thursday, June 2, which marks the start of the four-day Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

Kellie Bright, who plays Mick’s wife, Linda Carter, praised the royals for taking part.

She said: “I thought what great sport they were willing to do it.

“I just thought wow, they’ve never done anything like this before. They didn’t really know what was going to happen.

“I mean, it must have been stressful for them and completely out of their bounds. So I just hope they enjoy it as much as we did! ”

Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer for EastEnders said: “We are truly honored to have both the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall appear in what is considered one of the most special episodes of the series. EastEnders.

“Linda Carter is naturally in her nature and giddy with excitement when their Royal Princesses arrive in Walford.

“But it wasn’t just her, but for all of us at EastEnders, it was an extremely special day that will go down in EastEnders history.”

Actor Danny is no doubt happy to see Prince Charles again – as he recently discovered he is related to the royal family in real life.

The 44-year-old is in fact a distant relative of the Prince, as he is also a direct descendant of King Edward III.

Speaking of the moment he told Prince Charles this at an awards ceremony a few years ago, he revealed that the royal family burst into laughter.

The couple met before Prince’s Trust Award in 2019, when the actor told him, “I’m in EastEnders. I just wanted to let you know we’re also related. King Edward III is my grandfather – but I’m not going to get involved. Not him, in my life.”

Prince Charles apparently replied: “A very long way.”

“Yes, I know, I know,” Danny replied.

Speaking later during the ceremony, the royal announced to the audience: “I discovered a long lost relationship in Danny Dyer.

“He told me he was a descendant of Edward III, which was interesting.”

He joked: “I have to do some research when I get back.”

The EastEnders Jubilee special will air on BBC One at 7:30pm on Thursday 2 June.
