EastEnders’ Danniella Westbrook once confronted Sam Mitchell’s new actress Kim Medcalf, leaving her ‘astonished’

DESPITE threatens to sue BBC for sneaking back with Eastenders, Danniella Westbrook once praising her replacement.

The former soap actress – who played Sam Mitchell on BBC One’s EastEnders – was cast aside because Kim Medcalf was cast as her old character in a reprise of the role.

Danniella, 48, lashed out over the weekend and threatened legal action against the broadcaster following the casting announcement.

But in a reenactment clip from last year, Danniella revealed how she approached Kim years ago to take on the role of Sam.

Danniella explained, “I’d never seen Kim before, so I went up to her on the red carpet and I said, ‘Kim, I just wanted to say I did a good job on this part. I know you’ve done it. got to get a lot of backlash and everything to come in, but you did a great job you are a very talented actress and thank you for keeping Sam alive, keep her going ‘.

“She was a bit surprised and said, ‘Thank you very much’.”

After announcing Kim would reprise her role in Albert Square, Danniella took to Twitter to praise her rival but threatened legal action against the BBC.

Defending her right to play the thigh dancer, the actress wrote on Twitter that “her legal team will be in touch” with the BBC.

“Good luck to Kym at EastEnders, but once again this poor woman has to recreate a Samantha Mitchell close to my two most recent returns to the Square,” Danniella wrote.

“Smash it. Oh but not with @bbceastenders, my legal team will be in touch,” she continued before revealing the latest project in her career.

“Bet you all can’t wait for my new book now,” Danniella said as she confirmed she was busy writing her autobiography Saturday night.

“Oh, it’ll go back to things I never told.”

The new book will be the third to be penned by Danniella, who previously wrote The Other Side Of Nowhere and Faith, Hope and Clarity.

Danniella has previously revealed about being replaced on the soap because she suggested that she “has not been contacted” about returning to her role.

Kim played Sam until 2005 when she abandoned her son Ricky when she left Walford.
