EastEnders fans rejoice at the character’s return as Kheerat Panesar is freed from prison

The latest episode of EastEnders sees Kheerat Panesar freed from prison, after he was recently arrested on BBC radio for assaulting Gray Atkins

EastEnders aired the good news on Thursday night, as BBC soap fans saw Kheerat Panesar return to Walford.

The character was eventually freed from prison after the attack on Gray Atkins nearly killed him.

It was in self-defense and an accident, when Kheerat was being attacked by a serial killer.

Kheerat fled the crime scene after Gray’s wife Chelsea called the police and told them it was Kheerat who attacked him.

All the police seem to care about is that Kheerat appears to have brutally assaulted a man and left him for dead.

Even after Gray’s crimes were exposed earlier this month, they still wouldn’t let him go.

His mother Suki enlisted the family’s attorney in the case, and was frustrated when she urged her son to confess.

Kheerat agreed to this, but what he didn’t know at the time was that his lawyer was actually helping a rival family, and had betrayed him.

Solicitor Eve intervened to help the family, thanks to Dotty’s money, and she arranged for Kheerat to get a new lawyer.

On Thursday, with Kheerat’s hearing underway, Suki hopes they’ll get him out.

But she waited anxiously as no news came, while her other son Vinny was there to support her siblings.

It was good news, however, and Kheerat quickly returned to Walford and was seen walking through the door with his brother.

Suki couldn’t wipe the smile off his face and decided the family needed to celebrate with a meal later that evening.

She also thanks Dotty for help, claims she saved her son’s life – and tells her she will always be part of the family.

Viewers were thrilled to see Kheerat finally out and they took to Twitter to welcome him back.

One viewer said: “I’m sleeping tonight knowing Gray is finally locked up and kheerat is free.”

Another tweeted: “Yaaaayyyy!!!! Kheerat’s house!!!”

The third added: “Yaaas Kheerat is home,” as the fourth agreed: “Glad to have kheerat back.”
