As the walls continue to close in on EastEnders serial killer Gray Atkins, it looks like he’s growing increasingly desperate – and may even frame his crimes on another resident in the scenes to come.
This comes as Albert Square residents finally learn that Gray killed Tina Carter and Chantelle Atkins next week, while Kush Kazemi’s murder is still believed to be an accident.
Tina’s body was discovered buried under the Argee Bhajee when Phil Mitchell trashed the place, but Gray’s secrets had already leaked out by the time Whitney Dean and Kheerat Panesar found out Gray was likely behind Chantelle’s murder after discovering they were victims of domestic violence was.
The Carters are out for revenge after learning that Gray murdered Tina in December 2020 after she found out he killed his wife, Chantelle.
As news of Tina’s death spreads, Whitney is sure Gray is behind it and tells her family Mick and Shirley.
She and others on the court soon seek revenge, and Gray attempts to flee Walford.
BBC spoilers reveal the drama coincides with doctors’ approval that Gray and his wife Chelsea can finally bring little Jordon home from the hospital.
But Gray’s mind quickly turns elsewhere when DCI asks Arthurs to talk to him about Tina.
At the police station, Gray reveals his DNA but asks why he is there and denies any involvement in Tina’s death. Realizing the police have little evidence, Gray refuses to answer any more questions and leaves.
When Mick and Shirley learn that Gray has been approached by the police, they rush to his house, determined to find out what’s going on.
Gray ramps up emotions and feigns grief that Tina has died, even insisting he will try to help them where he can. But after Gray receives some new information from Shirley, Gray panics and he plots his escape.
As the walls close in, Gray turns to the only person he can trust: Karen. He manipulates Karen into believing that he was not behind Tina’s death and blames the murder on someone else.
Despite Whitney and Mick’s accusations, Karen refuses to believe it and protects Gray by hiding him in the apartment.
As Karen continues to see the best in her former son-in-law and ignores Mitch’s warnings, is there anything that can convince her that Gray is a murderer?
Or will he manage to escape justice by blaming someone else for the crime in his heartfelt outpouring to Karen?
And as police flood the square and devastated residents seek revenge, how far will Gray go to evade his compensation?
