EastEnders’ Jean Slater (played by Gillian Wright) is seen wearing a wedding dress and drowning in the ocean in a new storyline.
Jean – who has bipolar disorder – wears a traditional wedding dress as she somersaults in the sea in Southend, Essex.
In the new image obtained by Sunthis character can be seen casually swimming into the ocean before things go wrong and she begins to drown.
Footage, including her daughter Stacey going into the ocean to save Jean – will be aired later this year.
Jean has been struggling with her mental health in recent episodes and appears to be suffering from a manic episode.
In pictures released earlier this week, Jean can be seen running through a beachside fair, while her daughters Stacey Slater and Martin Fowler – played by Lacey Turner and James Bye – are cool looking for her.

Dressed in wedding attire, Jean was seen looking frantic as she ran around the venue.
Recently Jean has not only suffered from mental health problems but also has problems with her physical health.
The character has yet another fear of cancer, but it turns out she’s fine this time.
“I think she got stronger from dealing with cancer,” Gillian said of her character.
“She became less timid and less fearful than she seemed when we first met her in the early years. She had more courage.”
“I like making plots [with Daniel] because even though it’s a sad story, and it can be brutal and dark, we actually had a lot of fun.
