EastEnders: Behind the scenes of Grey’s arrival

EastEnders has shared behind-the-scenes footage of assassin Gray Atkin’s appearance in his final scenes.

BBC One’s serial killer (played by Toby Alexander-Smith) was able to evade justice for all of the horrific murders he committed – including the deaths of Tina Carter, Kush Kazemi as well as his wife Chantelle Atkins.

On Tuesday (March 10), viewers watched as Whitney Dean and Mitch Baker stopped the killer from killing himself.

They also had to watch as he was arrested and put in a police car.

Thanks to Whitney’s mission to expose crimes, Gray’s years of abuse, violence, and murder came to an end this week.

One final match on the train station platform saw Gray attempt to take his own life while Whitney stopped him from doing so by pulling his arm up.

Mitch quickly ran in to help her pull him up.

The police soon arrive to arrest the killer, marking the end of his murderous forms.

The official EastEnders Instagram page shared a side clip of the scene as well as how they shot it.

“Get a behind-the-scenes look at Gray’s arrival and how we filmed those epic final moments,” they captioned the video.

For the scene, the actors run through a mock platform. The trains were edited later.

And when Gray was dangling off the edge, the crew members stood on the elevator to get close to filming.

The stars are pulled up by rope to ensure they stay secure.

When Gray is finally arrested and put in a police car, the footage shows the cameramen going backwards to get the perfect shot.

Viewers were amazed at the performance and devoted the comment section to praising Toby.

One said: “Toby put on a phenomenal performance, I’ll really miss him on EE.”

“They do their own stunts, wow, defo needs to win some tv awards,” added another impressive user.

One user was confused by the editing and said: “How do they hide cameras and stuff them and sort out how they do everything themselves without a stuntman.”

Before the confrontation on the platform, it is Shirley Carter, Tina’s older sister, who is caught up in a deadly duel with the killer.

When Gray ran into a pub amid a police manhunt in the Square, Shirley came face to face with her sibling’s killer and she lost control.

Her son Mick stopped her while she was attacking him.

But when comforting her and pulling her away from Gray, the pair did not see him step to the floor and grab the chair leg, which he then slammed into Shirley’s head.

She was seen unconscious with a bandage around her head as she was wheeled behind her by the ambulance wheel.
