SID Owen became a father for the first time at the age of 49.
The former EastEnders actor thanked fiancee Victoria Shore for giving birth yesterday – after the couple were previously devastated by a miscarriage.
Sharing a photo of himself exfoliating, kissing Victoria, he wrote: “Long day. But. Can I say. I love you Victoria. Thank you for our baby. ”
Sid, who played Ricky Butcher in the BBC series One, was congratulated on the good news by his former co-stars.
Dean Gaffney commented: “Congratulations brother.”
Patsy Palmer wrote: “Congratulations to all of you.”
While Danniella Westbrooke added: “Congratulations Dad ❤️❤️❤️ and well done Victoria ❤️.”
Sid revealed that he became a dad last year but recounted how they had suffered a painful miscarriage earlier that year.
He told the Sunday Mirror: “I never dreamed I would have children. The older you get, the more distant the idea seems, sometimes you give up hope, so miracles happen.
“We talked about it when we talked about marriage but I don’t think it’s going to happen. I was completely shocked and on the moon.”
Victoria, 42, who has two children from a past relationship, revealed her excitement when she talked about Sid being a “cold dad”.
Sid reconnects with restaurant staff Victoria and falls in love, having previously met 23 years ago.
Off-screen, Sid has been engaged twice. First was dancer Carty Hubbard, 41, in 2000, then TV presenter Polly Parsons, 37.
Famous Sid has three appearances in the soap and was last seen in 2012.
His character marries the fiery Bianca Jackson (actress Patsy Palmer), who famously shouted “Rickaay!” regularly.
