Michelle Collins has revealed about being obsessed with her soap characters after playing Cindy Beale on EastEnders and Stella Price on Coronation Street.

The 59-year-old actress appeared on Steph’s Packed Lunch to discuss her role on a tour of the UK’s Cluedo theater as Miss Scarlett’s iconic board game character.

Host Steph McGovern asked which veteran soap star she’s playing is her favorite, and Michelle noted that among fans, it’s always the soap character she remembers.

Steph replied: “You’re an iconic person in EastEnders though – I haven’t followed EastEnders in years but I still know Cindy Beale.”

Michelle laughs and says, “I know, it drives me crazy,” as she admits it is a “popular show.”

She said that members of the public still call her Cindy or Stella “everyday,” and Steph asked if she had a realistic reaction.

Michelle said: “If they’re nice and polite, that’s it. I stopped – I just like years ago, now I suppose I created this kind of iconic character.

“It’s a bit difficult but it’s what it is. I am a working actor. I try to do a lot of different types and I feel pretty quickly.

The actress was quick to turn down offers to return to the soap, saying she “absolutely doesn’t” want to play a role forever.

“I absolutely don’t,” she said. Give me a six or eight episode TV series, but I don’t like doing particularly lengthy stuff. ”

But then she added: “Not that I would turn down a big Netflix series. Never say never.”

Michelle said she would be willing to play a “brave” detective in the role of Prime Suspect, describing: “This detective has the flaw of being a smoker, drinking too much. Someone has baggage and is not perfect. “

She returned to the Square for a special appearance before departing for the BBC series in 1998.

The actress went on to join Coronation Street as Stella Price in 2011 and then left the station three years later, as she struggled to shoulder the responsibilities of raising her daughter with Maia, whom she split shared with former partner Fabrizio Tassalini.
