ECB worried about wage demands as prices continue to rise

POLICYMAKERS at the European Central Bank (ECB) are becoming increasingly nervous about a wage-price spiral as workers demand compensation for the higher cost of living.

Evidence from an ECB meeting on July 21 shows that while workers have been “reluctant to demand higher wages” so far, this could change next year when wage negotiations between unions and employers come into force.
