Ed Turns Eyes Chance to Impress De Zerbi at Brighton

Ed Turns thinks he can do a job for Roberto De Zerbi after being called up to a 20th game day.

The Mid Sussex centre-back was on the bench as Albion played Tottenham on Saturday.

The call capped a great couple of weeks in which he scored for the U21s, including against Tottenham, and captain Wales U21.

A solid defender who is comfortable on the ball, Turns continued training with Albion’s senior team this week.

He told the club’s website: “We’ve been working on patterns and how he wants us to work on and off possession.

“There’s a lot of running, but there’s nothing wrong with that.

“I like the way he sets up, it suits my style of play.

“It’s positive for me that he came and introduced this style because it’s my game too.

“At Brighton we are encouraged to be brave on the ball at the academy and deal with it when we are pressured.

“I’m ready to be the middle half he wants me to be.”

Turns was pulled out of an under-21 game at Manchester United on Saturday.

Fellow defender Jan Paul van Hecke was not involved in the 20th against Tottenham in what appears to have been a selection decision.

De Zerbi has made it clear that he likes to give young players a chance.

Albion’s home game against Chelsea on October 29th is officially sold out and ticket exchanges are now open.
