GMB: Eddie Hearn vs Peter McCabe

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn was involved in a furious clash with a head injury campaigner on Good Morning Britain as they debated how healthy the sport is for children.

Joining hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard on GMB, Eddie unsurprisingly talks about the positives of boxing and how it helps young people fuel their belligerence in a healthier way. .

But things got really hot when Headway campaigner Peter McCabe explained the dangers of the sport and the potential for head injuries.

When Eddie started to interrupt, Peter was aflame that he was talking to him.

“It upsets me with the notion that the only way working-class boys can get ahead is to get into boxing,” Peter said.

The pair clash when Eddie declares that he will interrupt Peter

“That’s naive,” Eddie interjected, causing Peter to smoke: “I didn’t interrupt you.”

Eddie hit back: “Well, I’ll interrupt you. You’re not educated as a boxer, as a boxer to go in and do anything for your opponent.”

Peter tried to respond when he said, “You knock someone out…please allow me to finish. The ultimate victory in a boxing match is when you knock someone down and the referee counts to 10. and the person has a concussion. They may ‘not get up.’

The pair continued to clash, with Peter throwing a tantrum again: “You interrupted me again.”

Host Ben quipped: “This is the best ding Dong we’ve had on the show and it doesn’t even have a ring.”
