Former MP Edwina Currie appeared on Wednesday’s Good Morning to discuss the ‘Partygate’ fines and said she ‘didn’t care’ about Prime Minister Boris Johnson breaking the rules in when locking the door


Edwina Currie attacked Ranvir Singh during an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday.

The 75-year-old former MP appeared on the ITV breakfast show via video link to share her views on whether Prime Minister Boris Johnson should step down.

It comes after police issued Boris, his wife Carrie, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak with Partygate fines after they broke the door-to-door law in 2020.

The prime minister – the first to be found by police to have broken the law – faces a request to summon Parliament because of a vote of no confidence weeks before local elections on May 5.

Ranvir then asked her: “How would you expect members of the public to follow any new legislation introduced if we don’t care that the Prime Minister was able to break the law?

“I understand the question and my answer is because the public understands what the rules are,” Edwina snapped.

“The public followed the rules generally and were very reasonable and they almost certainly saved lives. What I’m saying is: Done, it’s wiped out.”
