Elden Ring Fans Think DLC May Include PvP Mode

Elden Ring fans are debating the meaning of some of The Lands Between’s curiously locked sections, with many concluding that they will be used for PvP or Boss Rush DLC add-ons (though although the latter seems less likely).

Warning: This article contains minor additions to Elden Ring locations.

Chances are you’ve stumbled across one or more of the Colosseums in the Midlands, and are then a bit confused as to why you can’t get inside.

The game’s opening area, Limgrave, includes the Colosseum, which is guarded by an NPC invader that you must defeat to receive two of the game’s multiplayer items. However, the Colosseum remained closed, with a ghostly figure sitting outside wondering why they couldn’t get in.

Lance McDonald’s fromSoft dataminer has now released a video showing what’s inside the Colosseum, a fully realized area, complete with an arena, spectator stands and elevators. There are also Colosseums in various parts of the map.

While some see this as plain content, many (including McDonald’s) has speculated that the regions will be used for future DLC. Many see this as a natural way to add a full PvP mode to the game. While PvP invasions are an active part of the game, there are currently no dedicated areas for players to test their mettle against, as in other Souls games.

Others have speculated that the zones could be used for the Boss Rush mode, which allows you to replay battles against a plethora of Elden Ring bosses. However, this seems less likely, as producer Yasuhiro Kitao previously told GamerBraves that the team currently has no plans to add such a feature.

You can expect any possible DLC expansion for at least a few more months, but given how massive the Elden Ring is, you’ll likely have enough to keep you busy for a while.
