Elden Ring Game Boy Demake brings the Lands Between right into your pocket

elden ring is obviously a pretty gorgeous game, but it doesn’t quite live up to the original Game Boy’s gorgeous five-color palette. Luckily someone is working on a demake to give us what we deserve.

Reddit user -shin-, known as Shintendo on other platforms, recently gave a sneak peek at his version of an Elden Ring demake for the Game Boy. And it looks good! So far they seem to have built the game’s opening area, the Chapel of Anticipation, with what appears to be the Drifter starting class. There’s the classic, trusty dodge roll, of course, which doesn’t have a dedicated animation, but rather a goofy, if not charming, sprite twist. And you can attack with your sword, which pretty much sums up the gameplay.

The short video goes all the way to the Grafted Scion boss fight, which has been changed to mainly walk side to side and occasionally try to stab you with his own sword. What comes next isn’t shown, however, as Shintendo dies and plasters the screen with the classic “YOU DIED” text, albeit with that Game Boy flair.

It seems like Shintendo intends to make this a bigger playable game. If you go to their twitch you can see live streams of them working on the demake. They appear to be currently working on Limgrave, the main starting area of the game, and again, things are looking good! Certainly brings Elden Ring back to his Legend of Zelda Root.

The Elden Ring community really likes to pull out all the stops when it comes to fan creations. With the Let Me Solo Her legend gaining momentum, a mod was created that allows you to summon the incredibly skilled player as a Ghost Ash so you can let him Solo Her at any time. She is of course Malenia, Blade of Miquella, one of the toughest bosses in the game. Elden Ring Game Boy Demake brings the Lands Between right into your pocket
