Elden Ring is officially the best-selling US game of 2022 so far, with massive launches according to the latest NPD data.
FromSoftware’s latest is the second-best launch of the past twelve months, trailing only Call of Duty: Vanguard. That means its February sales have outperformed Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, and the other best games of 2021.
Elden Ring has also been the fifth best-selling game of the past twelve months, despite being released only two weeks ago on February 25.
PlayStation players still love their latest exclusive, Horizon: Forbidden West, as Elden Ring comes in at number two on the Sony console.
However, it still secured the top spot on Xbox and on Steam, where it grew in popularity day by day in its first weekend before becoming the sixth most played game of all time on the platform.
Elden Ring has proven somewhat of a cultural phenomenon, with crazy ads, Twitch chat of a streamer playing while he scans, someone using the Nintendo Switch’s Ring Fit Controller to Defeat a boss, and it even has its own candy.
In our October 10 review, IGN said: “The Elden Ring is a massive repeat of what FromSoftware started with the Souls series, bringing its ever-challenging battle to a world The incredible openness allows us the freedom to choose our own path.”
