ELDEN Ring is one of the most popular games of 2022, and developer FromSoftware has released another patch to balance the game.
The most accessible Soulsbourne game to date, FromSoftware has worked endlessly to release updates that balance the weapons and builds in the game.
This allows players to feel justified in their choices, whatever they are, and not feel like they missed out by not getting their hands on a particular weapon or spell.
However, not all things are created equal. Here are the biggest changes that will impact how people play Elden Ring.
Bloodhound step nerfed
The latest 1.06 patch has finally nerfed one of the most overpowered abilities in the game, Bloodhound Step.
As long as a player had FP – the game’s magic – they could continuously use Bloodhound Step, allowing them to be virtually invincible and move quickly.
Since the update, the more times you use Bloodhound Step in a row, the less distance and invulnerability you have.
Quick Step will also see a reduction in performance, but you can also chain it faster.
Rivers of blood nerfed
This isn’t the first time Rivers of Blood has received a downgrade, but this time only the Corpse Piler skill is affected.
Blood attacks have been weakened and bleed damage buildup reduced.
However, if the skill is hit with the blade in melee, it still deals significant damage.
New NPC for Varre’s Quest
Made some changes to NPC quests, with the biggest changes coming to Varre’s quest line.
Previously, you had to invade someone else’s game to complete the quest.
Now there is an NPC in the game that you can fight instead.
This is good for those who don’t pay for online console subscriptions.
Summoning Pool Changes
Thanks to the latest patch, you can now send summoning tokens to summoning pools in multiple areas at once.
This means you can now invade a much larger area and from a greater distance.
The change excludes Mohgwyn Palace, but should make multiplayer combat easier than before.
Stars of Ruin-ed
Fan-favorite spell Stars of Ruin has received a significant nerf, especially against multiplayer opponents.
Target tracking has been reduced, meaning enemies are more likely to dodge the attack.
Greatsword, Curved Greatsword, and Greathammer improvements
Despite all the nerfs, some weapons will also be improved.
Each of these weapon classes will receive a speed increase to protect counter, strong attack, charge and roll.
Plus, these weapons allow you to roll farther than ever before.
