Elden Ring Mod for seamless 4-player co-op enters beta this week

A PC mod that brings seamless four-player co-op with shared gameplay to the Elden Ring goes into beta this week.

While the game organically supports three-player co-op, it’s more of an ephemeral experience, generally intended for one-off boss fights. A mod by YouTube user LukeYui shows players being summoned from Grace’s first main site, seemingly free to stay as long as they like.

Summoned players stay around even after the host’s death, putting the defeated player into spectator mode, as opposed to the normal Elden Ring system that brings them back home. If the beta is successful, that essentially means PC players can launch and play through Elden Ring with up to three friends in a shared game world.

The mod also addresses other limitations of normal Elden Ring multiplayer by allowing all players to summon mounts, and “Friendly Fire” can even be activated by turning on a PvP mode. Item drops from bosses are applied to all players, progress is shared, and more.

The beta begins on May 27th, but LukeYui hasn’t given any details on how long it will last or when the official release date for the mod will be.

The Elden Ring modding scene has spawned some pretty wild and wacky creations, including characters from Star Wars, One Piece and more, as well as a battle royale pitting all the demigod bosses against each other.

Elden Ring has proven to be a cultural phenomenon since its release in February, with players finding a ton of different ways to interact with the game. People have played it using a Fisher Price toy, the Nintendo Switch Ring Fit controller, and someone even made a working VR version of the game.

Elden Ring was also beaten by a speedrunner in less than seven minutes without taking or causing any damage, and fans are also modding every other entertainment franchise imaginable into the game.

In our 10/10 review, IGN said, “Elden Ring is a massive iteration of what FromSoftware began with the Souls series, bringing its unrelentingly challenging combat to an incredible open world that gives us the freedom to create our own path.” Select.”
