Elden Ring: Small patch should fix some PC and PS5 issues

FromSoftware and Bandai Namco announced that a new Elden Ring patch has been made available for the PC and PS5 versions of the game. Its list of fixes is short, but it does make some important changes to the PC version in particular.

Elden Ring’s 1.02.2 patch fixes “an issue where the graphics card is not being used, resulting in slow performance.” It’s a pretty good fix, and means that anyone making this mistake will now be able to use the full power of their GPU, instead of running Elden Ring on their CPU’s integrated graphics (which probably making the game almost unplayable).

In addition, the PC version of the patch also fixes a bug that caused the game to exit during the battle with the Fire Giant, which is a required boss battle. The patch notes also say that 1.02.2 fixes “other bugs” but gives no further details.

On PS5, patch 1.02.2 makes “Changes to save game progress even if the game isn’t over.” Players will note that, like other FromSoftware games, Elden Ring doesn’t like it if you don’t use its official save and exit functionality at the end of your playing session. Hopefully this update will help prevent any problems for those who want to quit by disabling their control panel.
