the RuneScape Team adds a brand new legendary pet and reveals the final chapter of Elder God Wars, which goes live next week. They also talk about account security and two big updates on that front in 2022, the Jagex Launcher and the Jagex Account System.
The Elder God Wars ends with Elder God Wars Quest: Extinction. The update is scheduled to be released on April 4th. Extinction is the first grandmaster quest introduced in RuneScape since 2016. Expect over three hours of gameplay in this update, where teamwork counts and your skills need to be sharp for the enemies and battles you face.
In the final chapter, return to Senntisten where the battle for the Elder God eggs takes place. You will meet new allies and maybe even save the world. Jagex has released a new trailer for the high-level members-only update, and even introduced a guide on what you need to have completed before starting this new chapter, as well as what they recommend for keeping up with the lore. You can get four quest points, four 175,000 XP lamps, and access to a new high-level skill location, which is repeatable content.
Also introduced this week is Calista, the latest new legendary pet. Callista, a Black Panther, is now available on the Marketplace.
Regarding account security as well as various RMT and fraud issues, Jagex has decided to release several new options to keep your account safe. The first option is the Jagex Launcher, which is currently in a downloadable beta for Windows. Eventually there will be lite support for RuneLite, multiple accounts and finally a commercial version of the launcher that will expand compatibility. That means Mac OS support, user interface improvements, and full RuneLite integration and installation.
The other feature they’re preparing to roll out is the Jagex Accounts system, which will allow you to use more complicated passwords, multi-factor authentication methods, notifications for logins, bot protections, and improved ways to recover your account if the need arises. These accounts will be released in three phases, first with new accounts, then an account migration process that will take you from a RuneScape Account to one Jagex account and eventually to support multiple RS accounts. This also brings new character selection and management screens into play.
