Elder Scrolls Online lags and crashes persist, ZeniMax is having a downtime today to try to fix again

Downtime happens today for The Elder Scrolls Online to fix ongoing issues that arose as part of last week’s Update 33, and Rising tide. After several days of trying to fix activity search issues and issues with crashes, hangs and lags for some, today we’re going to cover the server in a bit more detail.

There have been a few maintenance periods trying to fix these issues, which were first most noticeable on the North American PC megaserver but were also reported by some players on the European server. Yesterday there was a maintenance period that also caused another issue that needed to be addressed outside of the existing issues, which left players frustrated.

The team continued to work on the main issues of lag, long load times, activity search issues, latency and crashes, but yesterday’s additional maintenance was unable to successfully fix them. One of the confusing issues is the way these issues affect one server greatly but are minor, if at all, on another. After logging onto the server themselves and finding the issues there, ZeniMax is still working on it.

These issues have affected many since Rising tide DLC was released for PC, Mac and Stadia last week. With an update that includes story but also raids, dungeons and new areas to visit, it’s particularly frustrating that the activity finder doesn’t work and there are stability issues.

Today’s maintenance is now underway and they hope to fix the issues and get everyone back to enjoying the new content, if any, or at least all of the massive changes introduced in Update 33 to the base game.

The team expects maintenance to end around 4:00 PM EDT, so it’s not yet clear if these advanced fixes will be able to fix everything.
