“Dying two legends is heartbreaking. I knew them both and played cricket with Rod in Perth. A very special and fearless man.

Things moved fast for the fun-loving couple when Shane got on one knee a year later aboard a luxury yacht in the Mediterranean.

“When we were together, we both had a great time. Sadly it did not work.

“We’re still good friends, we still keep in touch, we’re good for each other and our kids get along great,” he explained.

The cricket icon also suggested that their conflicting schedules had driven a wedge between them

“When we first met, she was basically doing nothing. She was a farmer.
