Elizabeth Hurley shared her ‘heartbreak’ as she can’t make it to her ex-fiancé Shane Warne’s funeral in Australia.

The 56-year-old and the late cricketer dated for several years and were engaged between 2011 and 2013.

Shane died earlier this month aged 52 while on holiday on Koh Samui in Thailand.

Elizabeth shared some photos from her engagement photoshoot in Sri Lanka and wrote a tribute post.

“My heart aches that I won’t be able to be in Australia for Shane’s funeral tomorrow,” the actress wrote.

“I was filming last night and I can’t physically get there due to the time warp. These pictures were taken in Sri Lanka to celebrate our engagement – we all had our children with us and it was the happiest of times.

“It still hasn’t really become clear that he’s gone. It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have a lion hug again, but our memories will live forever.

“RIP Lionheart, with love, your Luna.”

Fans and friends including Joan Collins, Caroline Stanbury and more took to the comments section to pay their respects.

Life can be so cruel! Cherish the memories!” one fan wrote. “What a legacy Shane left! Heartfelt condolences! Beautiful photo for eternity!”

Another said: “My condolences to you and Shane’s family. Losing someone you love is always heartbreaking.”

After his death, Shane’s management released a statement.

They said: “It is with great sadness that we announce that Shane Keith Warne passed away today, Friday 4 March, in Koh Samui, Thailand of a suspected heart attack.

“Shane was found unresponsive at his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was unable to be resuscitated. The family is asking for privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.”

He leaves behind his three children Brooke, Summer and Jackson.

Warne is the all-time biggest leg-spinner after tallying 708 goals in friendlies, a tally surpassed only by Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan.

A day after his death, Elizabeth took to her Instagram to share some of her favorite pictures from her time with the cricketer.

In a short but sweet message, Liz wrote: “I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved lionheart.”
