Corrie: Amy Barlow introduces her parents to Jacob Hay

The life of Coronation Street star Elle Mulvaney is very different from that of Amy Barlow’s character.

The actress joined the ITV soap in 2010, at the age of 10, taking on the role from Amber Chadwick.

Amy is the daughter of Tracy Barlow and Steve McDonald, and the character recently celebrated her 18th birthday, with fans saying they’ve seen her grow up on screen.

“I can’t believe Amy is 18 – I remember the footage when she was born,” one stunned viewer tweeted.

In real life, Elle is very close to her character’s age, and the 19-year-old actress started acting at the age of 4.

She attended the Carol Godby Theater Workshop in Bury, and has been in the show business ever since.

Away from Weatherfield, Elle has officially taken to Instagram with her off-screen boyfriend Euan Marsden, and she regularly shares snaps of the loving couple on Instagram.

“Valentine’s Day,” she captioned a sweet moment of the couple gazing at each other as they prepared to head out on a date night.

She lives with her family – and their two dogs, Bowie and Ziggy – in a gorgeous home, which features gorgeous winding stairs, chic tones, and a grand entrance.

Elle’s bedroom is opulent, and she’s previously shared photos of her tattered velvet bed with its mirrored bedside table, giant gold mirror and ensuite bathroom.

The actress also enjoys letting her hair down with her Corrie co-stars, and has formed a close-knit girlfriend gang with other young women on the soap.

She said that she grew up with Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha Alahan, and the duo frequently hang out with Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman, and Millie Gibson, who plays Kelly Neelan.

“We played a small girl gang and I got really close to them. I grew up with Tanisha, she’s been on the show for as long as I have,” she said YES! “Having Tanisha there from the start was very nice to both of us because we both went through similar things. We all have.

“Harriet and Millie have been more involved lately but we all just really get along. We have a chat on Snapchat and a group on Instagram so we all stay in touch,” Elle added sweetly.
