Last year, DeGeneres announced that she was stepping down from her eponymous TV show following controversy over an allegedly toxic work environment.

“When we started this show in 2003, the iPhone didn’t exist. There was no social media. Gay marriage was not legal.

“We’ve watched the world change, sometimes for the better, sometimes not.

“But whatever happened, my goal has always been for the show to be a place where we can all get together and laugh for an hour.

“Being invited into your life has been the greatest privilege of my life and has brought me incredible joy. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks.”

The show premiered at NBC Studios in 2003 and later moved to Warner Bros Studios, with the first phase later dedicated to DeGeneres.

The review was initiated following reports of a toxic environment for the program, but DeGeneres has denied that this is why she is ending the program.

Guests in recent months have included the Duchess of Sussex, who appeared on screens last November and spoke about Halloween, saying she and the Duke of Sussex’s son Archie dressed up as dinosaurs, with baby daughter Lili Known as “little skunk like Flower by Bambi”.
