Ellie Taylor said she struggled with a lack of confidence when she took the upper ball seriously and praised her teammate Johannes Radebe for his reassurance when she had a “crash”.
he’s an actress, 38 years old, who has performed as a stand-up comedian, appeared on satirical panel shows and co-stars on shows like Ted Lasso.
Despite being used to the limelight, Taylor admits that she finds the Serious ballroom a whole new challenge.
When asked if there are moments of lack of confidence, she said: “Oh a hundred times a day. Of course, there are things that thrill you because you’ve had a little bit and then 10 minutes later you seem to have forgotten about that part.
“Johannes has those woes with me. I don’t feel sorry for the pros but their patience is great.
“Johannes has to say the same things to me over and over and he does it with a smile on his face and I’m sure he just wants to scream into a pillow. He does it with such maturity, which is a real skill. “
Taylor said there was a lot of laughter during their rehearsal, which she feels helped the two “cope” with their packed schedules.
She also felt that having a background in performance helped bring the characters to life, which she said she “really enjoyed”.
Last weekend, she gave her inner Cher a makeover by wearing a big black wig for her Cha Cha Cha in the song Shoop Shoop (It Was His Kiss) from The Little Mermaid .
This weekend, they joined Lulu’s Viennese Waltz to Boom Bang A Bang, with Taylor playing a shepherd girl.

She admits she can feel “frustrated” when learning new exercises, wondering why it doesn’t look like professional dancers and having to remind herself that she only has a few days to do it. Learn the moves and never dance like this before.
“This program is really hard. To come in on a Saturday and try to do a dance worth watching on the phone. She speaks.
Taylor also revealed that her young daughter, who she shares with husband Phil Black, is a huge fan of the show.
“She went to see a dress rehearsal a few weeks ago and she loved it. She was so excited when I arrived but then after I joined she asked her dad if she could color,” she said.
“I don’t know what else she could do with all the amazing dancing going on in front of her but she just wanted to color in Chase from Paw Patrol.
“She really liked it. She had to stay up late to watch Strict. She talks about Serious. It’s funny that she has it in her vocabulary and I catch her sometimes humming the song.
“I think it’s because it’s very around her through friends or family. It’s an ever-present thing at the moment, that’s really lovely. “
She added: “As they always say when you sign up for Serious your family sign up for Serious, and everyone I know is so sweet, all my friends are very invested and love to check on me for see how things are going, dance, how am i feeling this week.
“It really brings a lot of happiness to a lot of people I know, which is lovely.”
