A video was also shown of him carrying a box, watering plants and moving metal poles at one of Musk’s Tesla EV plants.

Musk said he hopes to start production next year, although “a lot of work” still needs to be done.

“There will be a lot of technical details and cool hardware demos.”

He said millions would ultimately be made for around £20,000 each.

The first will work in his factories, he said, but in the future they could be used in households for cooking, caring for the elderly, as “buddy” or sex partners.

Musk, 51, also said he expects Tesla to be fully autonomous this year and to mass-produce a robotaxi with no steering wheel or pedal by 2024.
