Elon Musk says he STILL wants to buy Twitter despite putting the $44 billion deal on hold

ELON Musk has stated he still wants to buy Twitter after dramatically pausing the $44 billion deal.
The billionaire announced on Friday that the setback stems from an issue with spam and fake account numbers on the platform.

Musk, 50, wants more information on the service’s actual counterfeit count before accessing it.
But he said the delay was only temporary and that he was “still committed to the takeover”.
He tweeted about the service, saying, “The Twitter deal is temporarily on hold pending details supporting the calculation that spam/fake accounts actually represent less than 5% of users.”
The timing is also bizarre as the 5 percent figure was announced by Twitter weeks ago.
The Tesla founder has pledged to root out fake accounts and bots once the deal closes – which could impact his own Twitter following.
All of this comes amid an exodus of senior executives from the firm ahead of Musk’s expected arrival.
Leading consumer goods maker Kayvon Beykpour has been sacked while on paternity leave.
And the Head of Revenue Product Bruce Falck was also kicked out.
The businessman also wants to lift former US President Donald Trump’s Twitter ban.
Trump, meanwhile, has launched his own social media platform called Truth Social – and apparently has no interest in returning to Twitter.
“Even though I think a less divisive candidate would be better in 2024, I still think Trump should be restored on Twitter,” Musk said.

“Biden’s mistake is that he thinks he was elected to change the country when everyone just wanted less drama.”
Twitter’s share price fell 19 percent after news of Musk’s robbery.
