Elon Musk says he would put an AI brain chip in one of his children in new disturbing comments

ELON Musk has said he would be comfortable implanting a Neuralink chip in his children’s brains.

The tech billionaire made the comments at a Q&A session for a Neuralink event.

“If you ask a question like I think I would be comfortable implanting that in one of my kids at this point or something,” he began.

“If they’re serious…let’s say if they break their necks, would I be comfortable with that?” I would,” he added.

“We’ve gotten to a point where it would be safe, at least in my opinion,” Musk concluded.

The Neuralink event took place Wednesday evening at the company’s headquarters in San Francisco, California.

At the event, the CEO spoke about the benefits of Neuralink’s brain chips in helping people with disabilities and other issues such as vision loss.

“Even if someone has never had vision as if they were born blind, we believe we can restore vision,” Musk said.

The SpaceX founder also revealed that he would implant a Neuralink chip in his own brain.

To date, the company has not advanced human trials, despite receiving US government approval in 2021.

“We want to be extremely careful and sure that it works well before we put a device in a human,” Musk said.

The Journey of Neuralink

Musk co-founded Neuralink in 2016 and has long explored the technology’s potential to help people with paralysis.

It “will allow someone with paralysis to use a smartphone with their mind faster than someone using thumbs,” Musk has said in the past.

So does the billionaire CEO promised that later versions of the brain chips “will be able to redirect signals from neuralinks in the brain to neuralinks in the body’s motor/sensory neuron clusters, allowing paraplegics, for example, to walk again.”

So far, the Silicon Valley company has successfully implanted artificial intelligence (AI) microchips in the brains of a macaque and a pig.

However, unlike its main competitor Synchron, the company has yet to start its clinical trials after announcing them earlier this year.

Neuralink has also come under criticism for the deaths of 15 monkeys it used in its animal experiments.

One agency, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, even filed a complaint against Neuralink for abusing monkeys earlier this year.

Since the complaint became public, thousands have called out Musk on social media platforms.

“Every article I’ve read about Elon Musk is about how one of his endeavors was a disastrous failure. SpaceX explosions, Tesla crashes (and explosions), that stupid tunnel, and now dying NeuraLink monkeys. He’s not an innovator, he’s a tweeter guy,” one user wrote Twitter.

“Tesla cars kill people and run through stop signs. Its satellites fall out of orbit. Neuralink killed the most monkeys user added.

“Hey @elonmusk. Fuck your animal cruelty,” a third proclaimed.
