Elon Musk says suspended Twitter users will have to wait to be reinstated

Twitter will not let previously banned users back onto the platform for at least more weeks, the company’s new owner, Elon Musk, tweeted.

Users banned for violating Twitter’s content guidelines include former President Donald Trump, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and temporarily rapper Kanye West.

Musk said the delay is necessary to develop a process that will determine how and when banned users can return to the platform.

“Of course, Twitter can’t become a hellscape where anything can be said without consequences!” Musk tweeted Thursday.

Musk has proposed a “Content Moderation Council” to oversee future bans.

Musk did not give any further details apart from to to say The proposed council “will include representatives with widely differing views, which will certainly include the civil rights community and groups confronted with hateful violence.”

Musk’s $44 billion acquisition officially closed on Friday.
