In a statement yesterday, Elton said: “It is with great regret that the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Dallas scheduled for Tuesday, January 25 and Wednesday, January 26 has to be postponed due to Elton recently tested positive for COVID-19.

“Fortunately, Elton is fully vaccinated and in good health, and is experiencing only mild symptoms. “Fans please keep your tickets as they will be honored on rescheduled dates to be announced soon.

“Elton and the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour look forward to returning to the stage shortly.”

In September last year, he was forced to postpone his UK and European tour until 2023 after suffering a hip injury.

At the time, he said: “At the end of my summer break, I fell clumsily on a hard surface and have had significant pain and discomfort in my hip ever since.

“Despite aggressive physical therapy and therapists, the pain continued to get worse and made moving more and more difficult.

“I was advised to undergo surgery as soon as possible to regain full fitness and ensure no long-term complications.

“I will perform an intensive physical therapy program to ensure full recovery and full return to mobility without pain.”

The superstar singer kicked off his comeback last Thursday and performed the first of 300 gigs in front of a packed crowd in New Orleans.

Initially, the tour was postponed because of the pandemic but then Elton had to postpone again.

After ending his gig in 2023, Elton said he looks forward to spending time with his husband David Furnish and their sons, Zachary, 11, and Elijah, 9.

“They’ll be teenagers soon. I need to be with them,” he said.

“I don’t know how much time I have left on this earth after that.

“You know, I got enough applause. I don’t want to continue traveling. I don’t want to be away from my family.”
