Emergency services called to Co-op collision in Ferring

A car crashed into a village shop and emergency services were called to the scene this afternoon.

The Co-operative Food store on Ferring Road, Ferring, was locked down after a car crashed into the front of the supermarket just after midday.

Crime scene pictures show damage to the front of the store after the Honda Jazz appeared to have pulled in there.

A spokeswoman for Southern Co-Op, which owns the store, said: “The store is currently closed and we are working hard to reopen the store as soon as possible.

“All of our colleagues are safe and unharmed.”

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Services said: “At 12.06 this afternoon we were called to reports of a road traffic accident in Ferring Street, Ferring.

“The joint fire control mobilized a fire engine from Littlehampton to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the crew found a vehicle that had collided with property. Fortunately, no one was trapped and the fire brigade secured the scene of the accident.

“The crew left the scene at 12:35 p.m.”

Sussex Police have been asked for comment.
