Emily Atack calls police after ‘relentless and disgusting’ rape threats

Emily Atack has said she faces “relentless and disgusting” rape threats online, which have prompted her to call the police and “at times question her entire existence.”
The 32-year-old Inbetweeners star, who has 1.8million followers on Instagram, said she is bombarded with around 200 harassing messages on social media every day, including ones threatening her safety.
Atack said she had to move home four times after being targeted and told The Sun On Sunday: “They knew where I lived, said what they were going to do to me, even to my family.
“I called the police”
She added: “He’s sending rape threats, saying what he wants to do to me while his wife is in the room, and sending messages that his kids are downstairs in their playroom while he’s having fun with me.
“These men are exposing themselves to me, doing so in a more private way in my direct messages where I can’t avoid it. It feels shameful.
“It has sometimes made me question my entire existence and how men view me.”
Atack says she is now calling on social media companies to crack down on explicit online comments.
“It’s assault and abuse.

“I should have the right to go in there (to their DMs) safely,” she said.
“More needs to be done to protect women.”
