Matt Willis has previously had to battle with a grim drug addiction.
He’s been sober since 2008, after struggling with alcohol and drugs early in their relationship.
Since the cleanup, Matt has been honest with their kids about why he doesn’t drink.
“I’ve given up drinking for a few months of Isabelle’s life and I just hope she’s not affected by [me drinking] “he told Fabulous magazine
“They’ve never known I drink, but they’ve noticed I don’t and I’m very open about why I don’t drink, so it’s not really a big deal for them.
“We talked about it and they knew what I meant and why I didn’t do these things.”
He added: “They understand those words, even though I try not to use them because they’re pretty scary – words like ‘alcoholism’ and ‘addiction.’ So I said: ‘It doesn’t work. results with me, I can’t do it’, and that’s enough.”
Emma told The Telegraph: “I’m not going to leave him because he has problems. I want to help him, but he has to help himself and I believe he can.
“What really changed him was our daughter, Isabelle. He did it [recovery] himself, then she came and that made him even more determined. “
Matt has personally revealed difficulties with The Sun and at one point joined the controversial Church of Scientology.
The musician said he was “fully invested” in the concept until he realized they were looking to break up his marriage.
“They say, ‘There’s someone in your life who’s really sucking on you,’ he said, who’s a negative force. That’s usually the person closest to you.” And it was like, ‘I think they’re trying to break up my marriage now’. “
