Emmerdale fans were left unimpressed on Tuesday night after Manpreet Sharma was grilled by police thanks to his sister Meena Jutla.
Meena is desperately trying to wriggle her way out of being accused of multiple murders and is playing her usual evil games.
In the latest season of the ITV drama, Detective Rogers is seen approaching Manpreet in the village and tells her that he wants to ask her a few more questions at the police station.
“This is all written by Meena,” sighed Manpreet as she reluctantly got into the officer’s car.
During the interrogation, Detective Rogers explained that Meena had testified that Manpreet killed Andrea because she wanted to get back with Charles Anderson – who was dating Andrea at the time.
“That’s crazy, why would you believe these lies? I thought you were supposed to be smart!” Manpreet told the officer.
“Detective Rogers, I hope you remember the reason you arrested her in the first place. Do you really believe that I would kill someone just to get close to Charles again?” she added.
However, viewers were quick to appreciate the “stupid” plot development – and some even pointed out a plot mistake.
“How can Manpreet kill Andrea when she plunges into a 60ft waterfall and is with Charles the whole time??? Let’s make it mean #Emmerdale,” one person posted.
Another said: “I wonder if the guy who plays the detective is embarrassed by this #Emmerdale storyline.”
A third viewer asked, “Can this plot get any more ridiculous? #Emmerdale,” and a fourth added: “This plot goes beyond stupid #emmerdale.”
Another said angrily: “Do the police seriously think Meena is telling the truth. Are they incompetent! #Emmerdale.”
At the end of the episode, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) approaches Manpreet as she arrives home from the train station.
Looking like a bullet casing, Manpreet explains to him that the police think she may have killed Andrea.
“Ohhhhhh of course because all the evidence points in that direction,” Liam replied angrily.
“It’s ridiculous that she would never admit to what she did, isn’t it?” he added.
“Not like that, no,” Manpreet replied as she began to worry about what others would think.
“Lydia saw me being transported this morning. I just had everyone around and now I’m back to normal,” Manpreet explained.
“She’ll never admit to what she’s done. All she wants to do is knock me down with her, and she’s succeeding, isn’t she?”
