Emmerdale’s Dominic Brunt was upset when he fell ill for the first time in 25 years.
The actor – who plays the much-loved character Paddy Dingle – has contracted the coronavirus, meaning he has been forced to cry out sick on ITV for the first time in more than a quarter of a century.
Dominic took to Twitter to express his disappointment at being infected with the coronavirus, as he has never missed a day of work in his life. He assured fans that he is doing well but will stay home to isolate from his colleagues.

He wrote on Twitter: “After 25 years in @emmerdale without a day off, I had to succumb to the dreaded ‘rona.
“I was strangely careful, but tomorrow will be the first time in a quarter of a century. Now it pisses me off. Lucky to have good health and so grateful. Love comes. all.”
Back in 2020, Dominic admitted to The Mirror that he was worried about being affected by the soap, despite being at it for so long.
“Every Christmas when my contract runs out, I still think maybe it is,” he said, “I think that keeps me going, the thought that at any moment you can leave. You can’t. just accept it, let’s start with no comments.
“So I try really hard – but never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have a job as good as this in the long run.”
“I’m really a big fan of the show and I’m lucky. I probably dodged a few bullets and I never took it for granted.”

He explained that he still suffers from impostor syndrome and is very nervous on set.
“When difficulties come up on set, I still get nervous. It’s a challenge. I don’t want to look like an idiot in front of six million people watching but I’m really shaking and feeling a bit sick,” he said. She shares, “I still have that imposter syndrome, for fear I’ll be tapped on the shoulder and told, ‘Dominic, we found out you’re a welder – what are you doing here?’ I still feel the same way.”
