Emmerdale’s Mandy Dingle actress Lisa Riley revealed the family would be forced to reunite later this year amid “heartbreak” on the ITV soap
Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley has revealed the Dingle family is in for “heartbreak” after previous spoilers revealed it’s been a big year for villagers.
The Mandy Dingle actress promised scenes where the family would unite and stand together when heartbreak hits them.
While staying coy about the plot and holding back all the details, she did hint that there would be emotional scenes later in the year that would impact all Dingles.
After being teased in January that the well-loved family would face a mixture of sadness, joy and despair, the star appeared to have given no hints about the upcoming scenes before more details are revealed.
Speaking to The Mirror and other members of the press, Lisa revealed that there is still a lot ahead of the Dingle clan, especially her character Mandy.
She said: “We still have so much to do. I mentioned Mandy and Paddy, but again there can be two characters who were married and are best friends.
“It’s a deeply rooted loyalty and trust that Mandy and Paddy have and that will continue into the future.”
It was recently teased that two Dingles would be taking center stage in a new storyline later this year, so could it be Paddy and Mandy?
Regarding the sad scenes ahead, Lisa told us, “We have heartbreak, serious heartbreak at the Dingles and of course when there is heartbreak at the Dingles we all stick together like glue.”
It comes after soap bosses teased a huge year for the family, who could see “anguish, pain and sorrow” in the village.
Speaking to the press, including The Mirror, in January, soap boss Laura Shaw revealed: “There’s a lot going on for the Dingles heading into 2022.
“Two of our favorite Dingles will face tremendous life-changing situations that will impact the entire village.
“The effects of this will be long-lasting throughout 2022 and into 2023.
“Over the next few months we will see drama, joy, fun, laughter, anguish, pain, sorrow and despair strike this family. They’re being pulled in many directions and are at the center of our very biggest stories this year.”
The soap will celebrate its 50th anniversary later this year, and Dingles are said to have a big part in it.
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an additional episode on Thursdays at 8pm.
