Soap favorite Malandra Burrows has boldly revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer and recently had surgery to remove a stage three tumour, with six months of chemotherapy planned.
Ex-Emmerdale actress Malandra Burrows is being treated for breast cancer, she has revealed.
The 56-year-old soap legend was diagnosed in February and recently had a stage three tumor removed. She is scheduled to undergo six months of chemotherapy.
In conversation with OK!Malandra, who played Kathy Glover in Emmerdale, said she shares her diagnosis to help raise awareness of the condition, telling the magazine: “I hate to say it, but when it comes to your life, you’re ready for anything to do to get it. That helped me focus.”
The actress was diagnosed in February after finding a lump a month earlier.
When she arrived at the hospital to hear the results of her ultrasound, she was greeted by a Macmillan nurse and therefore had a sense of what was to come next.
“She almost broke down and told me, but I just said, ‘Don’t be silly! We’ll get through this and I’ll ring that bell [to celebrate the end of treatment],’” Malandra said.
