Rebecca Sarker has endured a pretty rough act with Emmerdale – and she’s being pushed to her limits in real life right now.
The 47-year-old actress first visited the Yorkshire Dales in July 2018 as Manpreet Sharma – a local doctor and of interest to fan favorite Rishi Sharma.
Rebecca has stated that her character “has a lot of layers” and responded to fan theories about Manpreet being a future villain by saying she has “a bit of a dark side”.
Manpreet and Rishi had a quick romance and got married, which meant she became the stepmother of Jai Sharma played by Chris Bisson.
This sent Emmerdale fans into a frenzy when Rebecca and Chris actually played siblings in Coronation Street in the late ’90s.
During her time at Weatherfield, she played the role of Nita Desai, while Chris was cast as on-screen brother Vikram Desai, but she only lasted from 1999 to 2000.

Nita and Vikram are the children of short-term Corner Shop owner Ravi Desai, but after 4 months she left the family business to work for Freshco.
During her time on the street, Nita was pursued by Steve McDonald, Spider Nugent, and Curly Watts but only found interest in Freshco boss James Kitchin, even though he turned out to be a slimeball.
She left the street in May 2000 after taking a job as a manager at Scotland’s Freshco flagship store in Inverness and left The Street for good.
Speaking of Rebecca joining Emmerdale, Chris said: “It was great to have Rebecca on set – even though it’s been years since we both starred in Corrie.
“It’s so nice to be back together – Rebecca is really hard working. She played my sister in Corrie and now she’s really my mom – I think it bothers her more than I do. !”
After leaving the cobblestones, Rebecca appeared in Doctors, Casualty, Holby City, John Carter’s 2012 film and as Dr. Newton in two episodes of EastEnders in 2007.
Then, in 2018, she got the job of Emmerdale and was immediately thrust into a number of tense storylines, most notably the appearance of her serial killer older sister.
While Manpreet is horrified by her sister’s crimes and nearly murdered by her, it’s a very different story off-screen for Rebecca and actress Paige Sandhu.
They may not have played beloved siblings in the soap but had a loving sisterly relationship in real life.
Rebecca explains that friends can count on each other for anything and that while they don’t play sibling love on soap, their sisterhood in real life is a joy,
“We’re like real sisters,” she told ALRIGHT!added that acting with Paige is half the reason she enjoys her time on the soap so much.
While Paige revealed they’re constantly sending voice notes and texting each other on WhatsApp, saying, “If I’m feeling nervous or need to vent or whatever, I’ll reach out to Rebecca for help. support.
“To put it simply, Rebecca is a really kind and caring person. We really care about the work and we both put our heart and soul into every single shot.”
Rebecca is said to be married but has remained tight-lipped about her partner’s identity, revealing she has two teenage children.
In December of last year, she “set a straight record” about her family by joking that she had been asked to confirm she had two sons.
The actress, a mother of two sons aged 15 and 10, said her eldest son likes to remind her of him as well as his younger brother.
“I need to set a record immediately. I have two sons!” she speaks. “My youngest is 10 years old and loves that his brother, now 15, is never mentioned and my eldest always wants me to remind everyone that I have two sons.
“I said, ‘Yes, honey. I’ll help you grow up wherever you are.” He is a black belt in karate, plays the guitar and is very handsome. “
Rebecca took part in some incredible stunts, including hanging from 60ft above the water before her character fell into a raging rapids, which she hopes will inspire other actors. his boy.
“When I showed the boys pictures of me doing the stunts and doing the abseil, they were impressed. It takes a long time for them to be impressed but they may find these stunts very entertaining.
“I love taking on challenges. I strongly believe that while it’s okay to be risk-averse, it’s great to push yourself. I wanted to show them that ‘If Mom can do it,'” okay, then you can do it too “.”

Rebecca is currently trying her hand at ITV’s The Games, where she’s competing against other celebrities in a series of sports-based challenges.
“I feel like this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me,” she explains. “I was honored and surprised to have been asked to participate and my children would probably never have forgiven me if I hadn’t participated.
“It was an opportunity to learn new skills and new disciplines, boost my fitness and challenge myself.”
Rebecca has admitted that she fears expectations will be high for her, especially in cycling, as she has completed the Road Cycling Challenge.
“Having to say, I know how to ride my bike so I’m looking forward to it,” she added. “I can be good, I can be bad. That’s the fear factor for that particular sport, as well as diving.
“I can go boating in the Mediterranean but I’m not sure I can dive three meters off a board into a chlorinated pool, so to say I’m a bit nervous about that is an understatement.
“I think you have to be a little scared of things sometimes. It’s not a bad thing to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Remind me I’ve said all these things when the time comes!”
