Emoji reactions come to Google Docs

Google Docs gets support for emoji reactions, so you can reply to text with a simple symbol rather than a fully written comment. in a (n announcement postthe company says the feature supports all available emojis in the latest editionwhich includes gender neutral options and sillier symbols like melting face and biting lip.

A GIF published by Google shows the emoji reaction feature appearing as a third option next to “Add a comment” and “Suggest changes” when you highlight text. You can also type to browse the emoji catalog. According to Google, these replies offer “a less formal alternative to comments.”

Emoji reactions have become an integral part of modern software and can be found in numerous messaging apps (iMessage, Facebook Messenger) and social networks (Facebook and Twitter as part of a limited test). Emoji reactions come to Google Docs like the service underwent a major overhaul and expanding from a word processor to a remote work collaboration tool.

According to Google, emoji reactions are on by default and cannot be turned off. They’re rolling out now for rapid-release domains, but won’t be available to most Google Docs users until after April 20th. They are available for Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus subscribers, but not for lower-end plans like Enterprise Essentials.
