Energy Bill Support Scheme: How is the £400 energy bill paid?

The Government has announced that households across England, Scotland and Wales will receive £400 to help get them up energy bills this winter.

Households will not receive a one-off payment, instead they will have £66 deducted from their energy bills in October and November and £67 between December and March, the Government said.

“While no government can control global gas prices, we have a responsibility to intervene where we can and this significant £400 rebate on energy bills that we are giving will help millions of families during the colder months.”

How is the £400 energy payment paid?

How the money arrives depends on how you pay your bill.

If you pay by direct debit, you will see an automatic deduction on the monthly or quarterly statement.

Those with “smart” prepaid devices will see an automatic monthly top-up added to their account.
