Albion’s latest transfer link was sparked by a well-known former player and agent in Spain.
The Seagulls are reportedly interested in Getafe forward Enes Unal.
Jose Antonio Martin Otin, now director at Huesca, first mentioned Unal in connection with Albion on national radio in Spain.
There is no confirmation as to the truth in his comments.
Martin, better known by his nickname Peton, told Cadena Cope Radio: “The team that is most aware of Enes Unal at the moment is Brighton.”
Getafe rebuffed an offer from Fiorentina early in the window and local reporters at the club are unaware of Albion’s interest.
Unal, 25, is said to have a €40m release clause but ‘Peton’ believes Getafe would accept around half of that to help them sign their own target, Umar Sadiq from Almeria.
There are very conflicting reports as to whether Unal is interested in continuing.
