ENGLAND’S Lionesses are set to take on Spain at the Amex next week in a bid to reach the Euro 2022 quarter-finals.

Spain secured their place in the next stage of the tournament after beating Denmark 1-0 in their final Group B game yesterday.

The two teams, both favorites to win Euro 2022, meet at Brighton Stadium on Wednesday.

Spain coach Jorge Vilda said the game could be the toughest test of the tournament.

He said: “I think the quarter-final against England could be the toughest game in Euros given the level England are playing at.

“They are the host country and they have the fans behind them but that motivates us, we are a team that likes challenges.”

England hope to keep clean sheets after beating Austria, Norway and Northern Ireland in all three group games.

After losing 5-0 to England earlier this week, Northern Ireland manager Kenny Shiels said: “It would be a massive failure if they (England) didn’t win this tournament. Everyone else should just go home.”

Nearly 29,000 packed the Amex Stadium last week to watch England crush Norway 8-0 and fans chanted ‘football is coming home’.
