Eoin Doyle on the double to boost St Pat’s with a win over Finn Harps

Eoin Doyle scored twice as St Patrick’s Athletic doubled against Finn Harps that season.

ack-to-back wins keep Tim Clancy’s Saints in third place while Harps, now without a win in six, sits second from bottom.

Poor finishing and good goalkeeping from Mark McGinley looked like St Pat’s had nothing to show at the break having completely dominated the ball. That changed in the 38th minute when a cross from Billy King found Doyle, whose header hit the bottom corner.

The Harps goalkeeper had previously made good saves against Ben McCormack and Doyle, while he received a piece of luck when Darragh Burns’ cross caught him to rebound off a post to him.

Harps took the first chance of the second half when Filip Mihaljeciv found substitute Mark Timlin whose shot was saved by Joseph Anang.

St Pat’s soon rediscovered their groove in the first half as McCormack made a good save from McGinley before they doubled their lead in the 58th minute when Ethan Boyle pulled Joe Redmond to the ground and referee Adriano Reale pointed to the spot.

Doyle, who had saved a penalty at UCD on Monday, made no mistake and sent McGinley the wrong way to score four goals of the season.
