Epic Games has committed to donating all of its Fortnite proceeds to humanitarian aid to people affected by the war in Ukraine over the next two weeks.

As detailed by the Fortnite team, Xbox is joining Epic in this effort by providing its net earnings from Fortnite over the same timeframe so “we can get more help to the people of Ukraine.”

The donations will be collected from March 20th to April 3rd and the funds will be sent to Direct Relief, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP), UNHCR – the UN Refugee Agency and others “in the added to this list in the coming weeks.”

Epic answered some potential questions in an FAQ section, and first confirmed that it will be sending those funds “as soon as possible.”

“We are not waiting for actual funds to come in from our platform and payment partners, which may take a while depending on how the transaction is processed,” Epic explained, sending the funds to humanitarian organizations within days.”

It was also explained that all real-money Fortnite purchases will be distributed, including V-Buck packs, Fortnite Crew, gifted Battle Passes, and cosmetic packs. Retail purchases of in-game cosmetics and V-Bucks cards are also included if redeemed within the donation period.

V-Bucks simply spent do not count towards this total as actual Fortnite real money purchases matter.

This move by Epic Games coincides with the launch of Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2: Resistance, which not only adds Doctor Strange and Prowler to its Battle Pass, but also removes buildings from the Battle Royale.

This move is just one of many ways other gaming and entertainment companies are supporting the people of Ukraine as some close down their services in Russia and/or donate to humanitarian aid for those affected by the war in Ukraine.
